HDD, SSD, NVMe. Which method should you use?
You want to remove files without having to know the technical details of every storage type.
EraseIQ™ is the deletion planning mechanism. It identifies the storage type and selects a supported method while accounting for the medium’s limitations.
- Add files or folders to the app.
- EraseIQ™ identifies the storage and prepares a plan for the files.
- Review the plan, start deletion and check the outcome.
You can review the plan and warnings before starting the operation.

The physical medium’s limitations remain visible.
On SSDs, NVMe and flash storage, deleting individual files does not confirm that every physical cell has been cleared. Cloud copies and backups need separate attention.
02 / Chain of Custody™
What did the application actually do?
A file disappearing does not tell you which steps ran, what succeeded or where a warning occurred.
Chain of Custody™ is a local record of the operation’s stages: accepted files, the plan, actions performed and the outcome. It connects these details into one workflow with consistency checks for its entries.
- The app records which items it accepted for the operation.
- Stages, messages and the outcome are attached to the same workflow.
- Standard shows the outcome and warnings; Pro also lets you open the deletion report.
The outcome stays connected to a specific operation. Pro also provides the report and export.

The operation record is available in Standard and Pro. The report and PDF, HTML, CSV and JSON exports belong to Pro. The record documents the app’s actions; storage limitations still apply.
03 / Quick Capture
The files are on your desktop. Why find them again?
You have finished a task and can see the documents you want to remove. You want to pass them to the app without selecting their paths again.
With Quick Capture active, hold Ctrl and drag a selection with the left mouse button on the desktop or in File Explorer. When you complete the gesture, the app moves accepted files to the special folder.
- Keep MindVaultEraser™ running with Quick Capture active.
- Hold Ctrl and drag a selection using the left mouse button.
- Release the mouse button while still holding Ctrl. The app starts moving the accepted items.

This moves the files rather than creating another copy. With automation off, you start deletion yourself. Enabled Pro automation may start deletion according to your configured rules.
04 / Special folder
Working copies are left in different folders?
Documents from a finished task get mixed with files you still need.
The special folder is a dedicated folder you choose for MindVaultEraser™. It gathers material intended for deletion, including files passed in through Quick Capture.
- Choose a dedicated folder for the app.
- Move only the files intended for deletion into it.
- Delete them manually or use previously configured automation in Pro.
Your operation has a defined scope, and you can review the contents before manual deletion.

Manual deletion · or Pro automationDo not use your entire Desktop or Documents folder for this purpose. When Pro automation is enabled, new files in the folder may be processed automatically.
05 / Automation and scheduling
Remembering the same cleanup every day?
Unneeded files regularly arrive in the special folder, and it is easy to put off starting the same operation manually.
Pro can start deletion when new items are detected or on a schedule: at an interval, every day or on selected weekdays.
- Choose a trigger and schedule.
- Set folder rules, such as file-count and batch-size limits.
- The app checks the rules before execution. If confirmation is required, automatic execution is held.
You decide when and under which rules the app processes the special folder.

06 / Email-triggered deletion
Away from your computer, with the files already prepared?
The material is waiting in the special folder on a computer you cannot access directly right now.
After prior configuration, Pro receives an authenticated email command and passes the special folder’s contents into the same controlled deletion workflow.
- Configure the receiving mailbox, allowed sender, PIN and secret token.
- Send a correctly prepared command. The app checks its authentication and the folder rules.
- An accepted command enters the execution queue, and its progress is recorded.
You can request the prepared operation without opening the app window on site.
